Thank you for contacting me about H.R. 443, the Downed Animal Protection Act. I appreciate hearing from you.
Like you I am concerned about the welfare of stockyard animals. That is why I am a cosponsor of the Downed Animal Protection Act, which will impose penalties on any stockyard owner, market agency, or dealer to buy, sell, give, receive, market, hold, or drag any livestock that is unable to stand and walk unassisted.
